FLOATING MONOPILE TOOLS

As the offshore wind market is growing, we’re facing serious challenges. Both deeper water and bigger turbines result in the need for heavier foundations. When it comes to transporting monopiles, feeding the installation vessel with a single floating monopile from the marshaling port is becoming a common way to go.

Transporting and upending a floating monopile brings along many challenges. A monopile needs modifications to be towed and lifted. At the same time, the sealing is of utmost importance to keep the pile afloat. Safety is always the highest priority.

OUR SOLUTION

KENC’s floating monopile tool is provided with several innovative features making it a cost effective and reliable tool.

>
HEAVY LIFTING
Suitable for towing, upending and lifting of monopiles up to 2000 tons and 11 meter diameter.

>
ROTATIONAL STABILITY
Rotational stability of the monopile assembly during offshore transport.

>
SECURE SEALING
Secure and watertight sealing of the monopile (double independent air seals provided).

> REDUNDANT
A robust locking system enables a rigid connection with the monopile to withstand the tugging and lifting forces during offshore operations, even in case of a hydraulic pressure loss.

> 100T TUGGING FORCE
An additional hydraulic clamping system in the lower FMT results in a tight connection with the monopile, allowing high tugging forces up till 100 tons.

> NO POWERPACKS NEEDED OFFSHORE
The required hydraulic and pneumatic power will be stored in accumulators that are integrated in the tools, thus preventing the need to integrate vulnerable water resistant powerpacks.

FEATURES

  • REDUNDANT DESIGN WITH LEAKAGE DETECTION SYSTEM FOR 100% SAFETY

  • COST EFFECTIVE – NO NEED FOR POWERPACKS OFFSHORE OR ADJUSTMENTS TO MONOPILE

  • TOWING AND UPENDING OF XXL MONOPILES UP TO 2000 TONS AND 11 METER DIAMETER.
